Laimböck leather gloves: stylish protection against the cold
When the temperature drops, it's time to get your gloves out of the cupboard again. Whether you're cycling to work or going for a winter walk, a warm pair of gloves will make winter just that little bit more comfortable. Laimböck leather gloves in particular combine stylish protection with optimal warmth. In this blog, we explain when it is best to wear which gloves — so that you are always well prepared when you leave the house.
Which gloves do you need?
When buying a new pair of gloves, think carefully about how you will use them. Are you looking for warm gloves to wear on a winter walk? Or do you want windproof gloves for cycling? What if you are looking for something that is both functional and elegant, for example for everyday use in the city? Laimböck leather gloves are an excellent choice: stylish, durable and warm.

Why are good gloves important?
When winter really sets in, it is crucial to protect your hands properly. Cold hands are not only uncomfortable, they can also lead to numbness, stiffness or, in extreme cases, even frostbite. The right gloves — with sufficient insulation and a good fit — ensure that your hands stay warm, dry and flexible.
Laimböck offers a wide range of high-quality leather gloves, perfectly suited to different weather conditions and activities. Whether you are looking for a classic look or sporty functionality, there is always a suitable model to be found.

What are the best gloves for cold weather?
The choice of material and lining is crucial in determining how well gloves protect your hands from the cold. There are various materials available, with nature also lending a helping hand.
Leather
Leather gloves offer excellent natural protection against the wind and are durable. They insulate and breathe well and mould to the shape of your hand over time, making them comfortable. Our collection offers a wide choice of different models, from classic leather gloves to lambskin gloves and mittens, and soft suede gloves. Our gloves with touchscreen function allow you to use your smartphone or tablet without taking off your gloves. All our lined leather gloves offer protection against cold winter days.
Lammy
You can keep your hands nice and warm with Lammy gloves or mittens. These well-insulated gloves are made from sheepskin. Lammy is also moisture-regulating and antibacterial. So your hands are protected not only from the cold, but also from the cold wind.
Wool
Knitted wool gloves offer excellent insulation while remaining lightweight and breathable when worn in cold weather. The natural properties of wool wick away moisture, keeping your hands dry and comfortable even on damp winter days. Because our wool gloves are made from high-quality wool, they are soft, durable and designed to last for many seasons.

How do you choose the right gloves for cold weather?
This largely depends on when you will be wearing them and choosing the right lining:
Wool or wool blend is a popular choice for the knitted lining of winter gloves because it is naturally insulating and breathable. It retains heat even when wet, which is crucial in winter conditions. In addition, wool has the property of wicking moisture away from the skin, keeping your hands dry. That is why gloves with a wool lining are an excellent option for walking.

Lammy mittens and gloves have their own natural lining made from sheep's wool. We don't actually refer to this as a lining, but rather as a coat. Merino sheep are a special breed renowned for their high-quality wool. We use the best of this wool for our Lammy gloves and mittens. Curly lamb is the highest quality lambskin. The refinement of the curl, the suppleness and strength of the skin make it possible to produce very refined gloves or mittens.

Synthetic materials; Gloves with a synthetic lining such as fleece are often lighter and dry faster than natural materials. They are ideal for people who are regularly active outdoors, such as cyclists. The main advantages of fleece are that it feels nice, is crease-resistant and lightweight, breathes well, insulates and is anti-allergenic. The fine knit structure of fleece retains warm air well.

We believe this provides a good overview of how to choose the right gloves for cold weather.
How do you know if gloves or mittens fit properly?
The advantage of gloves is that you can move your fingers separately. This gives you more freedom and ease of movement. Keep in mind that gloves require more insulation because your fingers are kept warm separately. Gloves are therefore less suitable in extremely low temperatures.
With mittens, all your fingers – except your thumb – are together. Because not every finger is “wrapped up” separately, mittens are usually warmer than gloves. Mittens are therefore ideal for cold weather and hands that are sensitive to the cold, but less convenient if you need a lot of room to move.
In addition to the material, the fit of gloves and mittens is important for keeping your hands warm. If they are too tight, they restrict blood circulation, causing your hands to get cold more quickly. If they are too loose, cold air will get in, which has the same effect.
Make sure you choose gloves or mittens that fit well without being too tight. The fingertips should not quite touch the inside of the glove. Check whether you can easily make a fist with your new glove or mitten. If you cannot, the model is too tight. If it is too easy and there is a lot of space left, it is generally too big and heat loss can occur quickly.
